Gutter Covers & Gutter Guards

Having properly functioning gutters and downspouts is the most important defense against the damaging effects of rain water, the two key words being properly functioning. If your home has or needs gutters it is important to consider if you need some sort of gutter protection in the form of gutter guards, gutter covers, or gutter screens; even the best gutters and downspouts in the world are of little use if they are clogged with debris.

If your lot was not clear cut when your home was built, and your yard has deciduous trees, consider a gutter protection product. Obviously there is a wide variety of debris caused by different types of trees. Some of the most common debris types from trees in our region are leaves, pine needles, gum balls from sweet gum trees, poplar tree seed pods, acorns, and the all popular tassels from live oak trees (scientifically named catkins).

A common misconception is the amount of debris it takes to make a gutter overflow. Most think that the entire gutter has to packed with debris in order for it to overflow. However, the truth is that just a handful of debris can cause failure. Consider this: in most cases, residential gutters use a 3″x4″ downspout to drain the water from gutters, which is slightly smaller than two credit cards side by side. It won’t take much to clog an opening that size, and once the downspout opening is clogged your gutters will overflow.

It is important that you choose the correct gutter protection product for your home. There are three major factors to consider when purchasing a gutter guard: debris type, roof material, and roof pitch. When installed for the wrong application, the most expensive gutter guards can still result in rainwater overshooting the gutter and guard, which is as ineffective as having no gutters at all.

Our gutter protection products can be installed with new gutters or retrofitted on your existing gutters. We are not a franchised company, therefore we are not limited to a proprietary gutter cover or gutter guard that is a one size fits all solution. This, along with our over 25 years of experience in the gutter industry, will allow us to advise you as to what gutter guard is right for your home or business.
